My unique approach combines biblical teaching with somatic nervous system training.

Nice to meet you!

My name is Christie.

I’m a consent embodiment trainer. I work with churches, denominations and Christian nonprofits to develop leaders who:

  • feel safe within their own personal limits,
  • are conscious about how they use their power and negotiate boundaries, and
  • can hold on to the richness of the past while also nurturing a community that is authentically inclusive.

I have a seminary degree and have been a volunteer lay preacher for 20 years.  Over that time I’ve also been a nonprofit leader advocating for education, the arts, the environment and people struggling with homelessness and addiction.

In 2020 I led my church to become fully LGBTQ affirming, and in 2024 I founded Queer Voices Toastmasters to build up confident queer public speakers in my community.

My unique approach to change management leadership training is rooted in biblical teaching about the heart of God.

I integrate what it means to be created in the image of God with practical nervous system re-training exercises so that participants have the embodiment skills to feel safe within their own personal power.

When our bodies feel safe and we have the embodiment skills to keep us safe, then we can start to move into the emotional minefields of difficult communal conversations with compassion, openness, and spiritual growth.

Influences and Trainings:

  • Bachelor of Arts, University of Calgary, 1999
  • Master of Christian Studies, Regent College, 2005
  • Wheel of Consent, certified facilitator, (pending)
  • Appreciative Inquiry
  • Right Use of Power
  • Listening Prayer

Learning the Wheel of Consent changed my life. It taught me I had choice, and that I can honor my body and my intuition as I build relationships.
